MINISTERIAL FRUITFULNESS

Welcome Message from the Rector
Beloved friends and partners in the Gospel,
In the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I warmly welcome you to the official website of the Baptist College of Theology, Oyo – a place where hearts are ignited, minds are sharpened, and hands are equipped for Christian service.
Since our founding on September 30, 1977, this College has stood as a beacon of theological excellence, doctrinal faithfulness, and ministerial fruitfulness. Rooted in our motto, “Training for Christian Service” (2 Timothy 3:16–17), our mission remains clear: to equip God-called men and women, both spiritually and academically, for the propagation of the gospel of Christ and for godly leadership in the Church and society.
Our Degree, Diploma, and Certificate programmes in Theology and Religious Education are designed to blend rigorous biblical scholarship with hands-on ministry experience. We are honoured that all our programmes are fully accredited by the Baptist Accrediting Council of Theological Schools in Nigeria (BACTSIN) and the Association for Christian Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA) — a testament to our commitment to quality and integrity in theological training.
As Rector, it is my joy and privilege to serve alongside our dedicated faculty, staff, and partners in creating an environment that blends sound biblical teaching with practical ministry skills. Here, learning goes beyond the classroom — students are formed through discipleship, missions, skill acquisition, leadership development, and community engagement, preparing them to serve faithfully in a rapidly changing world.
We are blessed with rich academic partnerships, including our collaboration with the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso and affiliations with Bowen University, Iwo, and Oxford Centre for Religion and Public Life, United Kingdom. These relationships, alongside our membership in reputable theological networks across Africa and beyond, ensure that our training meets global standards while staying faithful to our biblical heritage.
Whether you are a prospective student seeking to answer God’s call, a parent desiring the best spiritual and academic formation for your child, an alumnus reconnecting with your alma mater, or a partner eager to invest in Kingdom work — know that you are part of a thriving family committed to advancing God’s mission.
I invite you to explore our website, visit our campus along the Oyo–Iseyin Expressway, and witness firsthand what God is doing in and through this great institution. Together, let us labour for the cause of Christ, knowing that “our labour in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
On behalf of the entire Baptist College of Theology, Oyo community, I say welcome home — where your calling is nurtured, your faith deepened, and your gifts empowered for His glory.
Grace and peace,
Rev’d. Prof. Esther Olufunmilayo Ayandokun, (CMC, FIMC, IAFS)

The Baptist College, Oyo, which was previously named Joint Baptist Pastors School, was founded on September 30, 1977. The vision for establishing the institution at the onset was to train Pastors who would meet the yearnings of hundreds of churches that were springing up in towns and villages of the then Western States of Nigeria.
In the year 2000, the school metamorphosed into a degree awarding institution and was renamed Baptist College of Theology, Oyo. The Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) is the proprietor of the College, while the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention is the visitor to the College.
